Gazpacho Consumption: The Best Way to Combine Quality, Flavour, Naturalness and Convenience

The product’s value is reinforced through the new European Promotion Programme for Spain and Portugal

Madrid, 21 July 2025. Today, Monday 21 July, marks the celebration of World Gazpacho Day, a date that highlights one of the most iconic products of the Mediterranean diet and traditional cuisine.

Coinciding with this occasion, the National Association of Juice and Gazpacho Manufacturers is reaffirming the role of gazpacho within the framework of the new European promotion programme, recently approved and co-financed by the European Union.

This initiative aims to enhance awareness and appreciation of this product in both Spain and Portugal, emphasising its unique values such as quality, flavour, authenticity, freshness, and versatility.

The European campaign seeks to bring gazpacho and its variations — such as salmorejo — closer to consumers. These recipes combine fresh ingredients like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, garlic, olive oil, or bread, with the convenience of a ready-to-eat format. It is a simple and healthy way to enjoy a traditional dish adapted to modern lifestyles, in line with the recommendation to consume at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day.

As shown by consumer behaviour studies collected under the “Juices and Gazpachos of Europe” programme, gazpacho is perceived as a “ready-to-drink” food, requiring no prior preparation or handling, making it a particularly practical choice for those with limited time to cook.

Although its consumption increases significantly during the warmer months — not only due to its refreshing nature but also its balanced and natural nutritional profile — more and more consumers are choosing to enjoy it throughout the year, proving it to be a delicious, healthy and versatile option.

In addition to its nutritional and cultural value, gazpacho stands out for meeting strict quality, food safety, traceability, and regulatory compliance standards. All of this strengthens consumer confidence and helps position it as a product that aligns with today’s demands for transparency and accountability in the marketplace.

Its production, based on fresh or locally sourced vegetables and highly efficient industrial processes, also includes sustainable measures throughout the entire chain, such as eco-friendly packaging design and resource optimisation. This commitment to sustainability makes it a coherent choice for consumers embracing increasingly conscious consumption values across Europe.

Commemorating World Gazpacho Day ultimately means recognising the value of a product that is part of the traditional recipe book, yet has evolved to remain relevant in a changing society — a food that represents the balance between tradition and modernity, between flavour and wellbeing.
